Souls vs Blood 4

Souls vs Blood 4

About a week passed like that before Harold decided to come out again, in search of Alice. He had to stay far away to avoid being detected by the vampire. At night, when his mother had fallen asleep, he set off to replace his mark.

Okay, XY wishes to be credited for her efforts as she thought of why Harold's mother was sickly. Harold's mother was unable to absorb souls directly and acquires it through... I'm thinking of sick methods but XY probably didn't think of those. Basically she could only get it through the Dadi of Harold. So, we'll leave exactly how in the hands of the readers. Something that Harold cannot offer, but his dad can. hmm.

Apparently, she says I have misunderstood her. Not that she can't acquire souls directly, its a genetic disfunction, she cannot absorb except a kind of person. Maybe like blood type kind of thing. She got into some accident and req a lot of souls, so the mother killed the dad by absorbing too much and the dad didn't absorb enough to stay alive. hmm. So Harold has this anger towards his mother... I'll think about this. Hmm.

By the time he was approaching Alice's house, it was early in the morning, about 3 a.m.. He walked without thinking, as if he had walked this path everyday of his life when in truth he only imagined walking on the path the whole of the past week. He missed Alice. Really wanted to see her. But he didn't think of that. He only thought of replacing his mark.

James wasn't around. He had gone out hunting with his vampire friends. Good for Harold. He couldn't sense James and decided if was safe to approach the house. He planned to get the back yard in  hovered to look through the window on the second floor.

Okay, XY thinks that James should have something in store for Harold since James knew Harold would be back to make a mark. Credited. lol. Now to get on to writing it. oh and, really, only she reads it o.o... but unfortunately, I shall deviate from her ideas.

Just before he reached the front yard, a little boy stopped him.

"Hey mister!"
Harold stopped and looked down. "I'm in a bit of a hurry here." He hurried on.
"Mister, you shouldn't go there."
Harold doesn't stop.
"There's a trap there for those like us!"
Harold stops right before a silver white thread like substance hovering above his head.
He turns and runs back towards the kid.
"Hey how did you know?"
"Mister big brother, there is one smart vampire in this household. He had set up a trap for those who suck souls such as us. The moment we cross that string like thing above there he will know we passed. And big brother, I've seen you around. I'm in big sister Sarah's care class (like, those YMCA after school stuff.) She talks a lot about you big brother! ^_^ When I went pass the line the other day, the vampire appeared in seconds and bared his teeth at me. He didn't harm me though!"
Harold smiles at the boy. "What's your name?"
"My name's Henri, big brother"
"Thanks a lot Henri ^_^ I owe you one."
"You bet big brother! I'll be going back now!"
"Yeah, it's getting early, better go back. Are you alone?"
"Don't worry about me big brother! My own big brother is right at the next corner! See you!"
"See you ^_^"
Harold smiled and waved, but he was very disappointed. Without crossing that line, he wouldn't be able to replace his mark. He sat down and closed his eyes, leaning on a lamppost to think of what he should do.

*shuffle*

Harold opens his eyes.

*shuffle shuffle*

His senses start to sharpen.

"Hello?"

He looks towards the source of the voice.

"Aren't you the guy from before?"

Harold instinctively straightens up and backs away. It was Alice.

"Hey hey, is it the don't come near me it's dangerous thing again? Okay okay, I'll back off."

"Why are you out here so late?"

Harold tries to carry a conversation while he replaced his mark.

"I...  couldn't sleep and James wasn't answering so I... came out for a bit."
Alice wasn't completely lying, but she didn't say what she came out to do... She went to visit the place her parents suddenly dropped dead.

Harold completed the replacement. He smiled.

Alice's heart skipped a beat. Harold was standing right next to a lamp post and his smile was clear under it's light. He was quite attractive.

"We meet again." Harold didn't know what else to say...

"Yeah." Alice didn't know either.

"Hey what are you doing here?" Alice suddenly gets curious.

"Uhh. I uhh, gotta get back soon. I'll... see you next time."

"We'll meet?"

"Yeah. We will."

"When?"

"Uhh..."

"I'll be at the forest at the back where you were injured, this time, three days from now. Will that be fine?"

*Did she just give me a time and place to meet her?* thought Harold

"Sure."

Harold disappeared in a bit of confusion and shock.

Just in time too. James was close by. He caught Alice staring into a distance.

"What's up? Why are you outside?"

"You were outside James? No wonder no one answered when I knocked!"

James noticed the mark had been replaced when Alice turned to face him. He uncontrollably let out an angry sigh.

"You met him."

"Met who?"

"Again."

"What?" Alice was slightly confused as to how James could know she met someone and slightly guilty as well since she never mentioned anything about the guy she met that time.

"Nothing."

James hadn't meant to really ask her. But he had a fiery temper. And sometimes, it was hard to control. He regretted voicing out the obvious (That she met Harold), but it was too late to do anything about it.

"Let's get back in Alice."

"O... Okay."
